New 1,006 HIV cases recorded in June by Department of Health in the Philippines

As of June 2019, DOH reported that we have a total of 1,006 new cases of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). This virus could attack cells that help the body fight infection, making a person more vulnerable to infection and diseases.
It is spread by contact with certain bodily fluids of a person with HIV, most commonly during unprotected sex (sex without a condom or HIV medicine to prevent or treat HIV) or through sharing injection drug equipment.

If left untreated, HIV can lead to the disease AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome).
The latest cases report of HIV infections from January to June 2019 has a total of 6,372.
Data from the Philippine HIV and AIDS showed that the new cases of HIV come from the NCR, CALABARZON, Central Luzon, Central Visayas, and Western Visayas.
Right now, 95% of the cases involved males, and 52% of whom belong to the group of 25-34 of age.
As of now, DOH said that as of June 2019 some people living with HIV are undergoing antiretroviral therapy and the total of 102 people died during the same month.
