The famous Su'ao bridge suddenly collapsed in Yilan County of Taiwan

Yilan County Taiwan- A suspension bridge in Su'ao District in Yilan county collapsed this morning at around 9:30 am October 1, 2019. According to Su'ao District Fisheries Association.

In the CCTV footage, a tank truck was crossing and almost reached the end when the bridge collapses. In the initial investigation, the Taiwanese truck driver is safe and there are 10 fishermen had been rescued and six of which suffered serious injuries. And six among the fishermen are migrant workers from the Philippines and Indonesia.

 According to Su'ao Township Mayor Lee Ming-Che, they believed that there are still six fishermen who are trapped under the bridge. Meanwhile, The Central Emergency and Operation Center has sent 214 first responders, 32 disaster rescue vehicles, 14 ambulances, and 11 boats.

The Yilan county had suffered heavy rains last Monday by typhoon Mitag and a magnitude 3.8 struck at 1:54 am early morning. The authorities are still investigating the incident.

The Su'ao bridged is the first bifurcated single-arch bridge in Asia and one of only two bridge in the world with 140 meters in length and 15-meter width.
