GOOD NEWS: A 'Big' firm in the Philippines to regularize all employees

As reported by abs-cbn news DZMM,  October 18, 2019, One of the biggest company in the country is planning to regularize all its employees, including security guards and janitors, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello said this Friday.

The firm, which has a "popular" product, will make the announcement "in due time," said Bello as he declined to give additional details.

Bello made the remark after radio anchors asked him about a fast food chain that supposedly stopped regularizing its employees. (Perhaps all big food chains should be inspected.)

President Rodrigo Duterte has instructed Bello and Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea "to come up with a new draft" of a proposed law that guarantees security of tenure for employees by preventing labor-only contracting, said the labor chief.

Duterte promised during the 2016 campaign to stop "endo", the practice of hiring and firing of workers in cycles to avoid granting them regular employment status and corresponding benefits that is due on the 6th month from hiring.
