Magnitude 5.7 earthquake shook Japan right before super typhoon Hagibis lashes the country

Chiba, Japan- A strong magnitude 5.7 shook in Chiba early evening before the super typhoon Hagibis has made landfall at around 7 pm, Saturday, October 12, 2019 in Japan local time.

Its outer bands had lashed the country’s eastern coast with heavy rains most of the day and residents had moved to evacuation centers. Saturday afternoon the government prepared to evacuate the 10 million people as reported by local media NHK.

As of Saturday afternoon, before the typhoon had made landfall, one death had been reported when a truck overturned and killed a man in Chiba.

The eastern coast embraced the wrath of Hagibis causing several houses and vehicles were damaged. The rivers has reached to dangerous level, erosions has been reported. Several flights had been cancelled and temporary suspension of public transportation.

Meanwhile, the Japan Meteorological Agency compared Hagibis could rival the Kanogawa typhoon of 1958, which killed more than 1,200 people in Shizuoka Prefecture and the Tokyo region.
