Pinoys in Lebanon advised to remain indoors amid protests-Philippine Embassy

The Philippine Embassy in Lebanon advised Filipinos staying in that country to take the necessary precautions amid protest actions.

''To all fellow Filipinos in Lebanon, be careful to all activities and places to go,''  it said in an announcement in facebook early saturday this morning (PHL time).

For the sake of all Filipinos, stay away from crowds, and amid protest.

Philippine Embassy said that it will be safe to remain indoors.

Those needing emergency assistance may contact the number 03859430, it added.

Protesters numbering in the tens of thousands marched on friday across lebanon to demand the removal of leaders they accused of looting the economy.

Police have fired tear gas and chased down protesters in Beirut, according to a report of Reuters.

As of 2015 there were 27,812 Filipinos in Lebanon, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs.
