A fire broke out at the dormitory of Migrant Workers in Taichung Taiwan

Taichung (Nov. 10, 2019) - One dormitory of foreign migrant workers caused a fire this morning in Central Taiwan Taichung City.  According to the police 14 people were affected by smoke inhalation but were not in critical condition as reported in CNA

When the Taichung City Fire Bureau received the report at 1:36 a.m.  that the residential unit of Shalu District was on fire it immediately sent 34 firefighters and 12 vehicles to the scene.

According to the local Fire Bureau, the fire happened on the third floor of the dormitory where users were foreign migrant workers.  When firefighters arrived on the scene they saw motorcycles burning on the ground floor with dense smoke.

The fire was extinguished at 1:50 a.m. and no one was reported killed in the incident.  But 14 people were injured five men and nine women.  They were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, according to a firefighter's report.

The 14 people who suffered from smoke inhalation were 4 Taiwanese children, 2 Taiwanese men, 5 Vietnamese women and 3 Vietnamese men.  The injured were immediately released from the hospital after being treated.

The Fire Bureau is still investigating what caused the fire.
