A tourist in Taiwan was robbed after riding an Uber

Taipei, Taiwan ( November 7, 2019)- A Malaysian woman tourist rides an uber to take her to the Taoyuan International Airport from the last day of her visit in Taiwan but instead of taking her to the place she want, the 3 suspects drove her to Yangmingshan. When they arrived there, the 3 Taiwanese suspects is with her inside the uber. One of the suspect force the victim to get her bag, cellphone and even her passport. The suspects took away worth NT$300,000 or US$(10,050) inside the bag from the victim.

According to Wu one of the special investigation team, the 3 suspects was arrested after they track them down. He said that the victim got injured because she attempt to fight with the robberies. They leave her in the Mountain area and the suspects escaped with the belongings they took.

When the suspects have arrested they only recovered NT$50,000 from the money took. The NT$240,000 was already gone because the suspects pay their debts in gambling. The victim cellphone, suitcase and handbag was also recovered by the police.

In the investigation, one of the suspects admitted the crime and he said she knows the victim from social media and they found out that it will bring a lot of money with her in visiting Taiwan.

The case is now turned over to Shilin District Prosecutors Office for more investigation.
