Lamitan City Police intercepted 20,000 smuggled rice but Bureau of Custom came to rescue the shipments?



Basilan, Philippines- The Police personnel led by Police Major John Paolo Carracedo had intercepted closely to 20,000 sacks of imported rice from Sabah Malaysia in the local port of Lamitan City Basilan.

Yesterday the Custom Officials are arguing with Police personnel who hold the shipments. According to the customs officials, they had a complete paper and approval from the Bureau of Customs. At first, the custom offical has so many talking that she said the Police have no right to hold or inspect the shipments but at the end, the Police were able to hold the shipments and got a copy of the documents were in the custom official is very hesitant to hand the copy.


The 20,000 imported rice was onboard in MV Sharidel 2 at Lamitan City local port. The vessel is from Sandakan Sabah Malaysia without any proper documentation yet the Custom Official in Lamitan came to rescue the shipments.
