Malungon fault line in Mindanao may cause more than 7.2 magnitude earthquake

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (phivolcs),  they are monitoring Mindanao fault lines and the movement along the Malungon fault line because it can produce a potential magnitude 7.2 earthquake. They still monitor the ground movement in Davao Del Sur and Cotabato.

In an interview with GMA News, Phivolcs Earthquake Monitoring OIC Ismael Narag said that the earthquake last July and October is related in one fault and maybe triggering the other faults that produce of continues earthquake.

The agency said that they analyzed the earthquake records and it showed horizontal direction when the movement of fault in that earthquake. And the series of the quake was the same magnitude 5.5 to 6.5.

Base on the report, the Malungon fault line can produce the strongest earthquake than other active fault lines.
