Worth NT$24 million scammed from OFW in Taiwan by a group of scammers

There are three groups of scammers now spreading in Taiwan and dominated by Taiwanese and Filipino.  These scammers have already obtained NT$24 million from Filipino workers in Taiwan after being persuaded to enter into a fake investment through Facebook.

According to Mirror Media, Taiwan police recently spoke with Filipino housekeepers and nursing workers over several cases of defrauded of a lot of money.  In one case, a Filipino woman lost NT $ 3 million a month and her friends and co-workers who lent her money were confronted.

One victim told reporters that the leader of the three groups was Totugn Jevy A. Redidon, Vivian Catapang, and Liezl Corderom.  They are previously run by illegal remittance companies and often post information on financial investment opportunities with interest rates as high as 50%.  It adds that most of these scammers are caregivers, so they have a lot of free time for contact the targets through social media.

Police have found the whereabouts of the Taiwanese woman suspected of surname Chung and her fellow scammers.  Meanwhile, theTaichung Police Presinct Deputy Chief Hsieh Chih Yuan advised Filipino workers in Taiwan to use banks and reputable financial orgnizations when sending money to the Philippines.
