Philippine Dancesport team bagged 10 gold medal in SEA Games

For the past twelve years, Danceport has returned for the first time to perform at the SEA Games.  And the Filipino Athletes make sure they show their skill and style.

In the one day sport competition for the SEA Games, Filipino pairs in dance competition won a total of 10 gold medals and 2 silver medals which in 2005 made its debut when the Philippines hosted the biennial meet.

The danceport competition was re-presented at the SEA Games in 2007 in Thailand before it disappeared on the calendar until it returned this year.

In this competition the Filipino dancesport athletes deserving to come through a gold rush.

Sean Aranar and Ana Nualla take and won gold medals in the Open Standard, Single Dance Tango and Single Dance Viennese; Mark Jayson Gayon and Mary Joy Renigen also get a gold scored in the Single Slow Foxtrot and Single Dance Waltz also a silver for Standard Quickstep.

The gold medal was also won in Single Dance Samba, Single Dance Cha Cha and Single Dance Rumba with the pair of Wilbert Aunzo and Pearl Marie Caneda.  Meanwhile, Michael Angelo Marquez and Stephanie Sabalo also won gold medals for Open Latin and Single Dance Paso Doble and silver par s Single Dance.

Aranar expressed surprise and gratitude at the turnout at venue in Angeles City, Pampanga for the event which was also live stream on GMA News Online.

According to him, they did not realize that so many people would go and watch dancesport.  So they are very overwhelmed by what they see.

Nualla also thanked to all the fans in the venue.  And to all the people who are watching far and wide.
