2 kilometers steam plumes and fountains of lava erupted causes heavy ashfall in towns of Batangas

This afternoon heavy ashfall was recorded by PHIVOLCS after the Taal Volcano has an irregular lava fountain and hydrovolcanic activity which causes a steam-laden plumes that went up to as high as 2 kilometers.

The town of Cuenca, Lemery and Taal were all heavily affected by the fall of ashes as the winds direction going to the southwest of the island. According to PHIVOLCS.

"After a brief of waning of activity following lava fountainingbat 2:59 to 4:28 a.m. today, Taal's resume immediately," PHIVOLCS said.

Since yesterday 1:00 p.m. a total of 144 volcanic earthquakes were recorded due to phreatic eruption of Taal Volcano.

According to PHIVOLCS briefing, "New lateral vents were observed to have opened up on the northern flank where short 500 fountains emanate."
