26 Deaths have been recorded and 113,987 seeks medical attention in a week due to flu virus in Taiwan

Seasonal influenza in Taiwan rises from October 1, 2019, to 26 bringing the death toll as two people reportedly died of the said flu last week as the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) said Tuesday. 

From December 29 to Jan 4, a total of 113,987 people were in needs of medical treatment of which 79 people were reportedly infected from the said virus according to CDC statistics Type A H1N1 cases in Taiwan since Oct.1 have resulted to 456 patients with severe complications and 22 numbers of deaths were recorded Lin said. 

It is said that vaccines can be purchased between NT$ 270 (US$ 8.98) and NT$450 per dose according to the CDC. Taiwan's flu season usually occurs in October and November and on its peaks around January or February.

The signs and symptoms of swine flu are similar to those of infections caused by other flu strains and can include:

  • Fever (but not always)
  • Chills.
  • Cough.
  • Sore throat.
  • Runny or stuffy nose.
  • Watery, red eyes.
  • Body aches.
