DILG Sec. Eduardo Año order LGU's to help OFWs who are returning from Middle East

This Wednesday, DILG Secretary Eduardo Año gives an order to all local government units to help Filipino workers who will come back from the Middle East due to rising tension between the US and Iran.

Año's told the reporters in Camp Crame that He is directing all the LGUs, local chief executives to help and accommodate our returning OFWs from the Middle East.

He added that our OFWs need help after coming back to the country so we must give them all they need to ease them and even the president promised to give financial assistance to all OFWs who are affected by the rising tensions between the two countries.

The tension arises in the Middle East after the US killed the top Iranian general Qassem Soleimani in their strike last week.
The government already raised Crisis Alert to Level 4 all over Iraq. This declaration came after Iran had fired rockets at Iraq's al Asad airbase to target US forces.

All Filipinos are requested to leave and join the ongoing evacuation being offered by the Philippine government after the declaration of the crisis alert to level 4.

The two battalions of soldiers will be deployed to the Middle East to assist in the repatriation of Filipinos because of the rising tensions said Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana.
