Philippine Government imposed forced repatriation for all OFW in Iraq due to rising tensions

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has mobilized the government agencies to secure the OFW in Iraq, this was after the country of Iran have launched more than a dozen ballistic missiles against US basis in Iraq early Wednesday local time, confirmed by the Department of Defense, but the two countries well along the path to an all-out war after years of rising tensions. The strike comes as U.S. officials have defended Trump’s decision to kill Maj. Gen. Qasem Soleimani, the commander of Iran’s elite Quds Force.

Meanwhile, The Philippine Government has issued forced repatriation of all Filipinos in Iran. In the government data, there are 4,000 Filipinos are working in Iran since June 2019.

According to Charge d' Affair to Iraq Jomar Sadie, for the past 24 hours President Rodrigo Duterte has mobilizes the various government departments to ensure and enforce the full repatriation of the Filipino workers in Iraq.

The Philippine Embassy in Iraq has advice the OFWs' to go home early and not to wait for the situation to get worse.
