POEA approved Total Deployment Ban to Kuwait

Yesterday, January 15, 2020, the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) has approved the resolution to imposed total deployment ban to all Filipinos in Kuwait.

This the Philippine government’s move against the country of Kuwait for clearly disregarding the bilateral agreement between the two countries to end violence against the Filipino migrant workers.

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III has recommended to the governing boards of POEA to totally ban in sending Overseas Filipino Workers to Kuwait due to unresolved issue regarding the deaths of migrant workers. The actions to totally issue a ban to Kuwait is due to fake and dishonest report sent by Kuwait government regarding the autopsy report of Jeanelyn Villavende. Based in the autopsy report done on the side of Philippine government, it comes out that the victim was sexually abused in her 5 months stay in Kuwait.

Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said, he is in favor of total deployment ban to Kuwait because their government has “clear disregard” the bilateral agreement.

DOLE said, the ban covers all Filipino Workers and also possibly may affect all tourist who wish to visit the country of Kuwait.
