MOEA plans to build 60 lines to produce surgical mask due to virus outbreak

The Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) plans has been approved by the Cabinet to build 60 lines for producing 6 million mask per day as the demand rises due to novel-coronavirus.

Last Friday night, the Cabinet said the plans cost NT$200 million (US$6.66 million) that will produce 3 million masks per day in 3-4 weeks and 6 million masks per day from 4-5 weeks.

Adding a capacity of the existing 4 million masks per day can produce in Taiwan, the total production per day will rise to over 10 million surgical masks that can be made.
The proposal was made due to the increasing volume of demand because of novel-coronavirus that spreading in different countries.

According to the MOEA official, the Minister of Economic Affairs Shen Jong-Chen already visited the production equipment supplier last Friday said CNA.

As of now, the Central Epidemics Command Center said last Thursday, the 4 million masks produce in Taiwan per day will be distributed. The 2.6 million will go to the consumers and the 1.4 million will be given to medical workers for them to use it until February 15.

The supply shortage is clearly seen although they just sell 3 surgical masks per customer. Many stores have a long line of buyers whenever they received deliveries but many consumers left with nothing.
