Herbal Medicine: Java tea beard, Cat's whisker



Java Tea Beard cat is an ornamental plant of medium height. It is best known for its long flowers that resemble cat beards. It is common in the lowlands of Luzon and Palawan, as well as in the countries of India, Malaysia, and Australia. Its leaves are commonly made into tea in many places.

Nutrition and chemicals available to bearded cats:
*Leaves - have high levels of potassium salts. The dried leaves are oil and orthosiphonin which is an alkaloid. Other parts of the plant contain flavonoids, carbohydrates, tannins, saponins, phenols, and terpenoids.

Diseases that can be treated by cat beard:
1.)Urinary incontinence - bearded cat tea gives the person suffering from urinary incontinence.
2.)Gout - gout and rheumatism and can be cured by drinking tea derived from cat beard leaves.
3.)Bladder Problems - beard leaf tea infects people with bladder disease.
4.)Toothache - fresh beard leaf can be irritated to the person experiencing a toothache. It is helpful to squeeze the toothpaste into the tooth.
5.)Kidney disease - kidney-related conditions and disorders can be helped by drinking beard leaf tea.
