Repatriation of at least 4,600 OFWs will begin in the next 2 weeks due to COVID-19 situation

MANILA - MalacaƱang announced that the government will continue to help thousands of overseas Filipino to be able to come home in the Philippines amid COVID-19 affecting lots of countries globally. The repatriation will begin in the next two weeks.

"Currently, the Department of Foreign Affairs is closely coordinating with various foreign service posts on the repatriation of at least 4,600 Filipinos for the next two weeks," President Rodrigo Duterte's pilot report to Congress, dated March 30, read.

It said a total of 1,806 Filipinos have been repatriated so far.

As of March 30, there are 348 overseas Filipinos who tested positive for COVID-19 in 30 other countries, according to the DFA. Most of them are in the Asia Pacific Region. Of the said cases, nine died while 111 have recovered.
